Summary
If you don't care for the taste of boxed banana pudding then this recipe is for you. It is the way my mother always made it. I love to eat it while it is still warm.
Prep Time 15 Minutes
Servings 6 - 8
Ingredients: vanilla wafers 3 ripe bananas 1 c sugar ¼ c corn starch ¼ tsp salt 3 egg yolks 2 c milk 1 tsp vanilla 2 Tbsp butter
Directions Place vanilla wafers on bottom and along the sides of a large bowl or casserole dish. In a medium sized saucepan, mix together the sugar, corn starch, salt, milk and egg. BEFORE turning on the burner stir all ingredients together making sure corn starch has dissolved. Corn starch will NOT dissolve in hot liquid. Heat on medium - medium high heat stirring or whisking constantly until pudding has thickened. Remove from heat, add butter and vanilla. Mix well. Slice bananas and spread over vanilla wafers. Pour pudding over bananas. |
